About the History of the Russian Toy Club of America

The Russian Toy Club of America is working with the American Kennel Club's Foundation Stock Services (FSS) to help promote and educate the public about the Russian Toy breed. Our members are found throughout the United States and the world, and are often found at dog shows and event trials throughout the year. If you'd like to meet some Russian Toys and their people at an dog event, club specialty show, open dog show, or a meet the breed event, contact the secretary for more information.

In the Summer of 2011 the Russian Toy Club of America merged with the Russian Toy Club of USA. We have joined together with the Russian Toy Club of USA, under the auspice of the Russian Toy Club of America, to continue the advancement of the AKC recognition of the Russian Toy.

This merger was quite a successful union of dedicated dog fanciers and it has brought unity to our dog club as well as  combined breeding and exhibition experience of its members. Our club gatherings can be quit a bit of fun and also educational.  Members share their knowledgeable and vision of breed type of the Russian Toy.  Topics of discussion might be canine anatomy, reproduction, health, training and grooming.

2012 was a growing year for the Russian Toy Club of America.  As our membership grew so has the nations breed count.  Some wonderful examples of the breed were also imported from the "mother country" with the intent of broadening the RT gene pool in North America and improving the over all quality of the dogs.  Even though the RT's are still considered rare there are now over 250 registered with the American Kennel Club.

We cheerfully invite you to join in on the fun and activities as we progress toward our goal of being named the official AKC Parent Club and of course full AKC recognition of the Russian Toy showing in the conformation toy group. Come see for yourself why the Russian Toy Club of America is the fastest growing and stable Russian Toy Club in the United States!

Join us on Facebook to help promote and learn about a breed that is uniquely Russian in origin.

Breeder contact information is also available from our Secretary, Martha Guimond. Keep in mind that an older puppy or adult is often an excellent choice for today's busy household, and our breeders may have older dogs available for sale including retired Champions.

We hope you enjoy your visit to our site. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact our Secretary or any club officer board trustee, regular or associate member will be happy to assist you in finding the information you are seeking.
